👉 How can our plugin be useful and what should you use it for?

WooCommerce only has limited features to display extra product options on your product pages. You can use their “variable products” which can add a few select (dropdown) lists to a product.

But what if you’re selling customizable t-shirts where customers can print their name on a t-shirt? Or what if you’d like your customers to build their own pizza where they can freely choose extra toppings?
These product types can’t be built with WooCommerce out-of-the-box. That’s where our plugin comes in. It allows you to build more complex WooCommerce products that can easily be personalized by your customer.

When should you use WooCommerce built-in variations versus our plugin? We wrote a handy blog post to answer that question.

👉️ What makes our plugin different from the competition?

During your research, you may have seen other plugins that do (more or less) the same. Here is how we are different:

✅️ Our plugin is younger than the competition. It does not have to support older WooCommerce or WordPress versions, so you benefit from modern code.
✅️ Quality above quantity. We carefully choose what & how we implement features so the plugin remains lightweight and fast.
✅️ The plugin’s frontend scripts are tiny (~7kb) and doesn’t impact your SEO score.
✅️ Easy-to-use modern backend which follows WordPress & WooCommerce standards.
✅️ Regular updates to stay on top of new WordPress & WooCommerce versions.
✅️ Our plugin runs fewer database queries because we’ve spent time optimizing how data is stored.

We understand these statements are meaningless without additional proof to back them up, so here are a few links to help make up your mind:

👉️ Requirements

  • WooCommerce 3.4.0 or higher
  • WordPress 4.7 or higher
  • PHP 5.6 or higher

👉️ Limitations of the free version

Our free version is great for small stores or stores that don’t need to add many complex options to their products.
There are a few limitations of the free version that you should be aware about:

  • The free version does not integrate with 3rd party plugins such as WooCommerce Subscriptions or a multi-currency plugin.
  • The free version does not work with themes using Ajax technology for their product “add to cart” button.
  • The free version allows only allows you to add an extra flat fee ( = not quantity based) to your product price.

If you need those aspects, you may consider our premium version. You can read ahead what’s included with premium.

The free version may suffice, provided you do not use ajax for the shopping cart button. Otherwise, the premium version works very well! (see their website). I was stuck on the free version, I switched to the paid version, and it works very well!

Ran into very few issues. Been going back and forth with Maarten from the support team who's been extremely helpful! I've been doing some customization on my own site using javascript. Been a while since I've done some coding myself, but Maarten has been great at helping me use the plugin to the extreme! Very solid plugin with a great team behind it!

Support is good. You won’t be left in the dark here. Maarten is fantastic at his job, and Rob has helped me plenty of times. advanced product fields is the only plug-in I found that can do extremely involved formula calculations while also allowing for conditional formatting and visibility. It also looks good styling is easy for non coders like myself. I used a mix of php and css that was included in the documentation - and divi Divi compatibility is fair. So far I haven’t run into too many issues. Wombat is going to be a crucial piece of my stores going forward. I hope the future brings more updates (maybe some MightyForm style horizontal form flow?) anyways, buy it.

I purchased two of Studio Wombat's plugins, this one after being extremely happy with the Advanced Product Fields for WooCommerce. Unfortunately, I knew the theme I was using wasn't implementing templates how they normally would, and the Qty field was not being updated by the plugin. I contacted support hoping they would know the answer. Maarten replied within half an hour and went straight to it. He went above and beyond to ensure it would work on my site. Very clear communication, and applied the fixes to the proper locations (child theme and custom css). It is great to know that some developers have your back. The plugin itself works great and allows just the right amount of customisation. Together with APF plugin by them, you can create some great shopping experiences.

Initially I really liked this plugin when I first installed it and set it up, however, after setting up the all add ons for my products and doing a test on the cart page and to my surprise I found that the free plugin is fairly useless as it is. You will need the Pro version to be able to use a quantity of more than 1 in the cart or product pages. I found this limitation mentioned in the support forum but could not find it mentioned in the sales pitch on the description of the plugin and way too late to save me the time I wasted on it. They have disabled the basic default functionality of WooCommerce where you can choose to add more than 1 of the same product to your cart. Adding more than a single product (including add ons) to the cart basically only increases the price of the product itself and not the add ons. For that you will need to buy the Pro version. There does not seem to be a way to limit the user to a quantity of only 1 if you really wanted to have a useless shop. In my case, my products start with a value of $0 and choosing the add on options to build the price. However, if I choose a quantity of 2, it halves the item value and does not increase the total. I’m not sure what the intention is but it seems like a pointless plugin considering they give you all these options and tools in the plugin, which it seems you can’t really use. I’ve just switched to another plugin.
